Jasper
Just a note to let you know that Jasper is doing great. He and Maggie are playing but only on the sly. They go upstairs where I cannot see them, but I hear the stomping on the floor. Sounds like a herd of cows on the loose. He is such a joy to have.
Another Chance for Photos with Santa
We just wanted to remind you that we will be at PetSmart in Statesville again this coming Saturday, December 14 from 11am - 4pm for Santa Claws photos. Bring your own camera and snap some pics of your fur baby with Santa!
Of course, if you are in the market for a sweet new addition to your family this holiday season, we can help you out with that, too. Stop in and see the wonderful cats and kittens waiting for their forever home. One of them is bound to win your heart!
We hope to see you there!
Sammy Update
Hope writes,
“All is well with Sammy. He has grown and is still playful and snuggly. I thought you might like to see a picture of Sammy with our outdoor cat (who comes in more now with the cold weather). They are existing peaceably! This is excellent news for all concerned. Maxine took a while to warm up to him and I believe she has accepted him into her life.”
Happy Holidays from Paws & Claws Feline Rescue
Happy Holidays from Paws & Claws Feline Rescue
Tis The Season already! Paws & Claws has had a wonderful year! It’s been our best ever and we expect to have over 175 adoptions by the end of the year! That makes a total of almost 700 lives we’ve saved in our five years! We now have our cats in three locations: PetSmart and Cole’s Cat & Dog Rescue in Statesville, and Petco in Mooresville.
Our poor homeless cats and kittens need your help! In order to continue our successful program, Paws & Claws Feline Rescue needs donations to feed and vet over eighty cats and kittens currently in our program. We couldn’t do it without your support as it costs a minimum of $100.00 for every cat we accept into the program. Every penny goes to the program, unlike the big charities where the pets may get a dime of every dollar. We are a registered charity and your donation is tax deductible.
We also couldn’t survive without our wonderful volunteers. Please consider volunteering your time to foster, clean cages, or help on adoption Saturdays. It is a very worthy cause and we definitely need help if Paws & Claws Feline Rescue is going to continue it’s good work. Please send us an
e-mail if you can help.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us this year and best wishes for a very Happy Holiday!

We hope to see you there, please bring your friends, too! And please remember to leave a donation at the register to support Paws & Claws Feline Rescue. We thank you for your support!

PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend
Celebrate the Season by Adopting a Pet at PetSmart Charities® National Adoption Weekend, November 15-17
As we head into the holiday season, we find ourselves reflecting on what we’re most thankful for. Anyone who has adopted a pet often puts their companion at the top of that list – and it’s mutual for that deserving cat or dog. Luckily, if you’re interested in adding a new four-legged friend to your family, you can do so at the PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend, Nov. 15-17 at your neighborhood PetSmart® store in City Statesville.
PetSmart Charities will also reward all participating local adoption partners, including partner organization; each will receive $35 in adoption-reward grants for every pet adopted during the event. National Adoption Weekends are sponsored by PetSmart, Purina® Pro Plan® and Tidy Cats® (MAXX Scoop® in Canada).
How to Adopt
In addition to the PetSmart store in Statesville, you can visit the PetSmart Charities’ adoption center inside any PetSmart store in the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15 and Saturday, Nov. 16; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17. Sammy
Hope writes,
“Hi Jean!
I thought you'd enjoy some updated pictures of Sammy. He is doing quite well. He still believes my feet are the enemy that must be subdued. He is helpful and tries to help with the dishwasher and loves to "help" fold laundry.
Since he seems to love to climb, I will be looking to build him a cat tree. I think he'll have lots of fun with that.
All the best,
Hope”
Stevie and Adam
Jane writes,
“Hello Jean,
Just wanted to show you how beautiful the boys are now that they are all grown up. I have taken so many pictures of them. One of my kitty discussion groups is using a picture of them on their home page, our boys are stars! Stevie is doing so well, he went to the vet a couple of times for his respiratory thing but he seems to be growing out of it and looks healthy and loves to play.
Adam is the perfect little gentleman and they both have learned to love the other cats and even seem to have formed some special relationships. Stevie is especially fond of our big gray girl Juliet and he adores our boxer Sam while Adam has formed a bond with our old cat Stinky.
But their greatest affection is still for each other and I love watching these two boys running all over the house and play wrestling. We just love them so much, they have brought life and light to our home.
The first picture was taken last week in my den. The second one is Stevie trying to play with Juliet. The third one was taken this morning and Adam is having a late morning rest. The last one is Stevie loving on our boxer Sam who adores him too.”

PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend
Fall into Love with an Adoptable Pet at PetSmart Charities® National Adoption Weekend, September 13-15
_________________________________________________________
PHOENIX – This time of year, a few things are certain: the days get shorter, leaves change color, and kids return to school. But, did you know September may also be the perfect time of year to add a new companion to your home? You can do just that by adopting at the PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend, Sept. 13-15 at your neighborhood PetSmart® store in Statesville, NC. Not only will you gain a loving friend through adoption, but you’ll also save the life of a deserving pet.
More than 2,000 adoption partners will be on-site at all 1,300 PetSmart stores in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico to help you fall head over paws with a new furry friend, whether you’re a feline fanatic or devoted to dogs.
Not only will you save a life by adopting this fall, but PetSmart Charities will also reward all participating local adoption partners, including Paws and Claws Feline Rescue; each will receive $35 in adoption-reward grants for every pet adopted at this event.
This year in North America, an estimated eight million pets will end up in shelters and half of those – or about 11,000 adoptable pets every day – will be euthanized.
When you adopt, you save more than one pet’s life. Adoption makes room at the shelter, so more pets can come in and stay longer, giving them a better chance at finding a home.
“Collaborating with our adoption partners throughout North America allows us help find homes for thousands of deserving pets each National Adoption Weekend,” said Jan Wilkins, executive director, PetSmart Charities, Inc. “By focusing our efforts in local communities to achieve the greatest impact, PetSmart Charities has become a leader in pet adoptions – finding homes for more than 5.5 million dogs and cats since 1994.”
How to Adopt
In addition to the PetSmart store in Statesville, NC, you can visit the PetSmart Charities’ adoption center inside any PetSmart store in the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13 and Saturday, Sept. 14; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15. To learn more about the event and to find the PetSmart store nearest you, visit http://pets.petsmart.com/adoptions/ or call 1-877-473-8762.

ABOUT PAWS AND CLAWS FELINE RESCUE
We started Paws & Claws Feline Rescue in 2009 and have saved almost 200 cats and kittens, which have been adopted into loving, "forever" homes.
We have also spayed and neutered all the adopted pets, as well as many others for people who could not afford to do so.
Our goal is to continue to save and adopt at least 100 cats and kittens a year and if our resources allow, to help more people to feed, care for, spay and neuter their cats.
Our 5th Anniversary Volunteer Lunch
Here are just a couple of photos from the Paws and Claws 5th Anniversary Volunteer Lunch at Cracker Barrel. A good time - and good food - was had by all. Thank you all for celebrating with us and especially for your dedication and hard work!
Paws and Claws 5 year anniversary!
Jean,
Congratulations on 5 Years of Making a Difference in the lives of animals in our community.
Thank you for all you do!

Rajah (formerly know as Alec)
Naomi writes,
“Hi Jean,
Thought you might enjoy a few pics of Rajah (pronounced Roger). He is a delightful little guy, sweet, loving and very playful. He and Timmy, my little feral dog, love each other. I am thoroughly enjoying him. Thank you.”
Winky
Chuck and Linda write,
“Winky got renamed to Riley. He is doing just fine. $30 on
cat toys and he likes a paper bag, toilet paper roll, and a popcorn box.
Go figure!!”
Sammy
Sammy was recently adopted by the Barton family in Charlotte and he seems to be settling in quite well, don't you think? Congratulations, Sammy, you have found a wonderful forever home!
Bo and Luna
Annie writes,
“Wanted to send you a couple pictures of our precious family! We have officially re-named Alex and Ambria (gray tuxedo brother and sister)...their names are now "Bo" and "Luna". Bo has white on both sides of his nose and Luna has gray on one side (of her nose) and white on the other. Dear "Sweetie" will ALWAYS be Sweetie!!!!
Bo and Luna have been neutered, spayed and micro chipped. We had to wait on Sweetie because of an upper respiratory infection. That is probably a good thing considering my hobbling around in a boot cast!!! Also, Sweetie is the "sensitive" one and (I feel) will require a lot of attention.
All three get along so well! Today I've been upstairs working in the office and had a length of grosgrain ribbon for them to play with....Sweetie has taken it upon herself to drag the ribbon around while Bo and Luna chase it!!!!!! Up and down the stairs they went!!!! It was hilarious!!! Then Bo and Luna pooped out and are flopped out resting... Sweetie is still pulling the ribbon around complaining!!!!!
Terry and I couldn't be happier!!! The "kids" have such great personalities..... we love them all equally...a LOT!!!!!!!!!”
Some of our wonderful volunteers
Here is Jean (on the right) with our girls, Hannah, Leah, & Eli who help us at PetSmart. They are great - very dedicated and hard-working, and we just love them!
The four orange tabbies are up for adoption and looking for their "forever families".
Adam and Stevie - another happy ending!
Adam and Stevie’s family writes:
“The boys are doing so good, they are running and playing, yesterday morning all four cats played, even my fat Juliet. I put their kitty condo together and they couldn't wait to play on it. They seem to be having fun exploring the house and having fun looking out our sliding glass doors at the birds. I love them so much, I love Adam who is a laid back boy who loves a cuddle and sleeps between my husband and me at night. I love little Stevie because he is the smallest and he is also the bravest, but he is very loving, too. I am sending these pictures so you can see that Adam is growing but little Stevie is growing, too. I am getting so many compliments about them on my Facebook page. I tell people where I got them from so I hope you get some new people coming in. “
They look very happy and healthy!
Hocus and Pocus had an adventure!
Meg recently sent this email and photo of adorable Hocus and Pocus:
Meg says,
“Just a little update on the boys: they've had a grand adventure this past week! We have moved to Indianapolis! They made the journey like pros- chilled in their carriers with nary a peep the entire way. They have enjoyed exploring our new home and are settling in nicely. As you can see they have grown up to be quite gorgeous fellows (yes I'm biased but everyone else seems to agree too)! They are still never far from one another, and their kittenish antics are EPIC - however they are nearly impossible to scold, as they are the sweetest, most loving, affectionate kitties to ever wear fur :) They are much loved, and we are so happy that they are part of our family.
Hope this note finds you well and brings a smile :)”
Thanks, Meg! We are glad to know they are happy and settling into their new home in Indianapolis.
Volunteers Needed
Dear Friends of Paws & Claws Feline Rescue:
We are coming to the close of our fifth year in cat rescue and have been successful in rescuing and finding loving homes for over 500 cats and kittens. We have three locations for adoptions including PetSmart and Cole's Cat & Dog Rescue in Statesville and Petco in Mooresville.
If we are to continue this wonderful work, we must have volunteers to help! Please find it in your heart to volunteer just one hour a week to help save the homeless cats and kittens so they will not be taken to animal control and euthanized!
We need cage cleaners in both PetSmart & Petco, as well as help on adoption Saturdays. Please e-mail or call me today and volunteer so that Paws & Claws Feline Rescue may continue to save cats and kittens for the next five years! It is important fulfilling work and the satisfaction of saving a life is so worthwhile!
Thank you for volunteering,

Sammy
Another happy adoption story. Adorable little Sammy is obviously making himself at home and getting along well with his family.
Carl says, “He has been such a great kitten and a real joy in our lives. Thank you so much again!”
You are very welcome, Carl, and thank you for giving Sammy a loving forever home.
