Gabriel Needs Your Help!

9.17.11 072

In September we took in a little three month old orange tabby kitten named Gabriel who had a broken leg.  After months of being in splints, and hundreds of dollars in vet costs, he still had a problem.  The growth plate in one of the bones in his leg was injured and stopped growing and the other bone was growing out of his ankle.

We had two choices, either amputate the leg or operate to shorten and stop the growth of the other bone.  Since he could use the leg and walked on it, we chose to try to save it.  The operation cost was $947.67!

Gabriel is doing fine and we hope the operation was a success.  He now has a cast on his leg and has to stay in a cage for six weeks.  Now we need to figure out how to pay the vet bills!!

Happy Holidays from Paws & Claws Feline Rescue

As you already know it’s been a tough year for the economy. What you might not know is that it has created many challenges for Paws & Claws. Our adoptions are down in the past few months and we have over forty cats and kittens in the program who continue to need food, vetting, and care.

On a bright note, we have adopted out 61 cats and kittens to wonderful “forever families” in 2011, including Gabriel with a broken leg and Bobby, whose tail we had amputated. We are thrilled that they have homes now, however, their veterinary costs depleted our savings more than expected.

We will be at the Mooresville Petco the first three Saturdays in December and the first and third Saturdays next year from noon to 5 pm and hope to adopt more cats and kittens. We’d love to see you there!

We received our 501(c)(3) tax exempt status this year. We can now apply for grants and receive matching funds through payroll deductions, and of course, any donations to Paws & Claws Feline Rescue are tax deductible.

We greatly appreciate your support in the past and hope you’ll consider donating to Paws & Claws Feline Rescue this year. (No donation is too small.) Besides the benefit of being able to deduct donations given to us, you now have the choice to use PayPal with the Donation button on the right side of this page, or send to P.O.Box 5221, Statesville, NC 28687.

You can be sure every dime will be spent on caring for and thus saving cats and kittens - unlike large charities where ninety cents of every dollar goes to big salaries & administration costs.

We hope you have been fortunate this year and that 2012 will be even better for you and Paws & Claws Feline Rescue.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Jean Keiser

Beauty Supporting the Beasts

“There was a dog wandering in downtown Statesville,” recalls Jane Stiles as she talks about the inspiration behind ‘Beauty Supporting the Beasts,’ held August 17th at M.D. Laser Studio in Mooresville.

Stiles wanted to help. She knew Rita Aldridge, Marketing Director at the Laser Studio, was an animal lover. They discussed how they could help, and the first ‘Beauty Supporting the Beasts’ event was born…

Thank you for adopting.

Checkers and Midnight

Checkers is a sweet, playful black and white bobtail who was rescued with his brother and sister, Sophie and Midnight (both bobtails) and now they need their forever homes. Sophie has already been adopted but Midnight is still available.

There is a discount if you adopt two or more, and it would be wonderful if these could be adopted together!

Celia and Cassie

Meet Miss Celia and Miss Cassie. They are adorable eight-week-old calico kittens and just old enough to be adopted. We took in her mother, Bella, when she was pregnant and she had five kittens.

Cassie is the calico and Celia is the tabby. Aren’t they just adorable? Look at those sweet faces. How can anyone resist that?

They both need "forever homes". Please adopt one or better still, two! Contact Jean at pawsandclawsnc@gmail.com and you could be a proud new kitty parent!

Welcome!

Welcome to Paws and Claws Feline Rescue located in Statesville, NC.

We started Paws & Claws Feline Rescue almost two years ago and have saved almost 200 cats and kittens which have been adopted into loving, "forever" homes.  We have also spayed and neutered all the adopted pets, as well as many others for people who could not afford to do so.  Our goal is to continue to save and adopt at least 100 cats and kittens a year and if our resources allow, to help more people to feed, care for, spay and neuter their cats.  The only way to stop overpopulation and killing of thousands of homeless cats and kittens is to educate people to spay and neuter!

We have adoption days at Petco in Mooresville on the first and third Saturdays of each month from noon to 5 pm where people can come and see our cats and kittens.

Here are just a few of our adorable kitties up for adoption.

Fonzi is a beautiful grey and white young kitten who is very sweet and playful. Fonzi was born outside and rescued by a kind couple. He needs a loving forever home. Could that be yours?

Mikayla is a sweet, loving young kitten who was found at a campground. The owners were going to drown her! She was rescued by a kind couple who could not keep her due to allergies.
Mikayla needs her "forever home". Won't you please adopt her?

Sophia is a beautiful white, orange, and black calico cat who was taken in by a kind lady when Sophia was pregnant. She had three adorable Maine Coon mix kittens and fostered two more rescued kittens. They have all been adopted - now Sophia needs her "forever home". Just look at that sweet face - how can you resist?
